Neighborhood/Enrollment Zone
Govans Elementary serves its neighborhood zone (21212) which includes the Cameron Village, Chinquapin Park, Lake Walker, Mid-Govans, Belvedere, and Evesham Park neighborhoods. Any child living or moving into the neighborhood may enroll at any time, without participating in a lottery. If you live in this zone, call or email the school to enroll.
If you live out of the zone, you can still apply to enroll your child at Govans. If there are no vacancies at the time, students can be added to a waitlist or upcoming lottery.
Charter Status
Govans Elementary school converted to a neighborhood charter school in 2014. During its last renewal in 2018, the Board of School Commissioners approved to renew Govans’ charter for five years. Its next renewal will be in 2024.
What’s after Govans?
Middle and high schools are not zoned by home address like elementary schools are in Baltimore City, therefore students will go through the Middle School Choice process in January of their fifth grade year. Middle school options that are still in the 21212 zip code include Roland Park Elementary/Middle, Leith Walk Elementary/Middle, and Walter P. Carter Elementary/Middle. The school choice liaison at Govans will help guide families through this process.
