Get ready for an unforgettable night of entertainment, friendly competition, and community engagement at the “Are You Smarter than a BCP Student” Gala! This exciting event is a platform to showcase the remarkable talents and achievements of the Baltimore Curriculum Project (BCP) students. With around 300 enthusiastic attendees, this gala features a delightful quiz show where our brilliant 5th and 8th grade BCP students go head-to-head against a team of local celebrities. Established in 2012, this year’s Gala is set to once again deliver an evening brimming with entertainment that you absolutely can’t afford to miss.

Baltimore Curriculum Project (BCP) is the largest operator of local neighborhood, public charter schools in Maryland. We create safe, supportive learning environments for children PK-8 by providing innovative, research-based educational strategies, intensive teacher training and extensive support for administration and staff. We support our local neighborhood needs by tailoring our resources and support through community partnerships.

As one of the longest-running charter operators in Maryland, our schools are regularly recognized as some of the most highly acclaimed neighborhood charter schools in the state.

Tom Hall, WYPR

Tom Hall is the host of Midday, the award-winning, highly rated news and public policy program on WYP Radio that features interviews with elected officials, community leaders, as well as thought provoking authors, artists, researchers, journalists, and scholars from around the world.

Tom joined the WYPR staff as the Host of Choral Arts Classics in 2003. After 10 years as the Culture Correspondent and then host of Maryland Morning, Tom became the host of Midday in September, 2016.  In 2020, Tom and the Midday team won an Edward R. Murrow Regional Award, one of journalism’s most prestigious awards.

Tom is also the Host of What Are You Reading? on WYPR.  He has also hosted the Maryland Morning Screen Test, and the WYPR/MD Film Festival Spotlight Series. In 2006, as the Music Director of the Baltimore Choral Arts Society, Tom received an Emmy Award for Christmas with Choral Arts, a special that aired on WMAR television, the ABC affiliate in Maryland, for 21 years.  He has been a guest co-host of Maryland Public Television’s Art Works, and in 2007, he was named “Best New Broadcast Journalist” by the Maryland Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.  Baltimore Magazine and the City Paper have named him “Best Local Radio Personality”  and “Best Talk Show Host” multiple times.  

Tom has been invited to speak and moderate public forums at Johns Hopkins University, the University of MD and UMBC, Morgan State University, the MD Institute College of Art, the Creative Alliance, the Baltimore City Lit Festival, the Baltimore Book Festival, the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Walters Art Museum, the Baltimore Museum of Industry, the Stoop Storytelling Series, the Enoch Pratt Library, the Ivy Bookshop, the Great Talks Series, the Phi Beta Kappa Political Forum, the Hamilton Street Club, the Baltimore Women’s Forum, the First Amendment Society, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Towson University, the Baltimore Broadcasters Coalition and the College Endowment Association.  He has also moderated Mayoral and Congressional debates, panels at Light City in Baltimore, and at the Stevenson University Speakers Series.

He appears each year as the moderator of the Rosenberg-Blaustein Distinguished Artist Recital Series at Goucher College. His publications include articles in the Baltimore Sun, Style Magazine, and Baltimore Magazine, and he is the co-author of The Bach Passions in Our Time:  Contending with the Legacy of Antisemitism, published by the Institute for Islamic, Christian and Jewish Studies.  Tom also serves on the board of directors of the Baltimore Community Foundation.  

Tom Hall lives in Baltimore, with his wife, Linell Smith.  Their daughter, Miranda, is a television screenwriter and playwright.

Kenny Clash, COO of Pratt Library

Kenny Clash joined the Pratt Library in February 2023 as Chief Innovation & Technology Officer and assumed the position of Chief Operating Officer in October 2023. In this capacity, he supports an innovative and sustainable culture by focusing on people, processes, and performance. In addition to leading day-to-day operations, Kenny is passionate about advancing our Digital Equity initiatives and revitalizing our physical infrastructure.

Kenny is an Army veteran and social entrepreneur with a passion for innovation, technology solutions, and social justice. As a Signal Officer in the Army, Kenny led the planning of satellite communications and network support operations. He is also the co-founder of Handteq, a data collection software company based in Columbia, MD, and has most recently focused his time and efforts on initiatives such as BridgeEdu and the Mayor’s Scholar Program in Baltimore City, where he helped implement and design wrap-around supports for first-year college students. Kenny also brought a wealth of technology experience, data-driven principles, youth advocacy, and thought leadership to his role as Chief Operating Officer at the Digital Harbor Foundation.

Kenny is looking forward to supporting digital transformation by reimagining how the Pratt Library both operationalizes and delivers its programs and services through a data-informed lens. Kenny is passionate about youth advocacy and looks forward to advancing digital equity work through digital literacy, internet access, and device access.

Kenny is an avid sports fan and alumnus of the University of Virginia and loves to run on Saturday mornings with his friends in the Baltimore Pacemakers running group. Kenny enjoys spending his free time with his wife Val, and three daughters, Cece, Kennedy, and Harmony.

Alexandria Adams, ED of Elev8 Baltimore

Alexandria Warrick Adams, Executive Director of Elev8 Baltimore, has over fifteen years of non-profit experience in education and youth development.   After moving to Baltimore Ms. Warrick Adams gained experience working with parents and communities as part of the Fresh Start Initiative providing workforce development training and support to TANF recipients.  In 2008, she joined what would become Elev8 Baltimore as a program associate supporting the development and launch of East Baltimore Community School and Elev8 Baltimore.

In 2012, Alex brought her experiences to the Family League of Baltimore to her position as Community Resource Schools Program Manager.  During her tenure, she was instrumental in deepening the organization’s approach community school engagement, professional development and middle and high school programmatic interventions.  In 2015, she returned to Elev8 Baltimore as the director and has grown the OST program to serve more students, and partner with new communities.  Under the direction of Ms. Warrick Adams, Elev8 Baltimore became an independent 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization in 2018.  Currently Elev8 is the operator of the first adult high school program in Maryland, is the community school partner to 20 schools and programs and serves over 600 students in its elementary through high school age extended learning programs.  In 2023, she was named Community School Initiative Leader of the Year by the Institute for Educational Leadership. She serves on several steering committees and boards to further advance outcomes for children, youth and communities of color in Baltimore.  

Alex received her bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Studies and Certificate in Black Studies from Portland State University (Portland Oregon).  Her post graduate studies is in Public History.  She is the mother to two adult children. 

Nick Greer, Maryland State Board of Education Member

Nick Greer grew up in rural southeastern Pennsylvania and has over twenty years experience in Maryland education with a deep passion for equitable systemic reform. He currently consults with education and non-profit leaders on initiatives related to strategic planning, organizational-, and talent-development.

Most recently, he was the Executive Vice President of Interconnection at Thread in Baltimore City. There he led the team that created, deployed, and evaluated the learning products that encouraged the development of interwoven and lasting relationships across lines of difference between adult volunteers and young people. His work was defined by his belief that everyone deserves authentic access to social capital; but that this right has been systematically and disproportionately stripped away from individuals who are marginalized.

Prior to joining Thread in 2015, Nick worked at Baltimore City Public Schools as the Director of Science, Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff, and Science Teacher Coach. Nick also spent eight years teaching high school biology. In 2009, he was humbled to be named the Baltimore City Teacher of the Year and a finalist for MD State Teacher of the Year. In 2010 he was also honored to be selected as a Teaching Ambassador Fellow at the United States Department of Education, where he worked in the Office of the Secretary during the Obama Administration.

He holds a BS in Biological Sciences and an MAT from the University of Pittsburgh, and a School Leadership Administration certificate from Loyola University in Maryland. Nick lives in Baltimore where he also volunteers with the Baltimore Community Mediation Center and spends as much time as he can with his eight year old daughter.
