Sherie Turnage attended City Springs from Pre-K to 8th grade. Sherie is the daughter of Sharone Henderson, a para-educator at City Springs. Sherie was a motivated student who participated in student government, modeling and step team. She served as Class President, Treasurer and Vice President. As she drew near the close of her time at City Springs, Sherie was encouraged to apply to Institute of Notre Dame by Jenae Toulson, Academic Coach at City Springs. Sherie applied and gained acceptance to IND.

She Persisted!
“Going into the 9th-grade year, I felt really prepared because I knew more math than some of my peers who attended private schools. Ms. Ashleigh Barry, Mr. Kenji Jackson & Mr. Nick West were all so helpful in my career at City Springs. Ms. Barry was very helpful because she pushed me to do my best. Mr. Jackson because he made me feel comfortable. Mr. West because he reminded me that I could and should do better. He also was a teacher that didn’t treat me like a baby, and always found good ways for us to solve problems. Ms. Michelle Beasley inspired me to want to be a social worker; she was the counselor at City Springs. She always showed love & respect to students who needed it most.” says Sherie.

Sherie excelled at IND and after graduation, she attended Coppin State University.
