On September 11, 2025, the Baltimore Curriculum Project (BCP) Board of Directors held its first meeting of the new school year at Wolfe Street Academy. Principal Mark Gaither welcomed board members and shared updates on Wolfe Street’s strong start to the year, as is the custom for the school hosting the BCP board meeting:

  • Wolfe Street students recently completed the beginning-of-year NWEA MAP assessment
  • The popular academic enrichment after-school programming begins September 29.
  • Wolfe Street’s enrollment is exceeding projections, with 252 students currently enrolled; Mr. Gaither credited the school’s new website and streamlined enrollment application as key factors in attracting more families.

The meeting covered several key updates across the BCP network. Laura Doherty shared MCAP results, noting that all six BCP schools showed slight gains or remained flat in both reading and math from 2024. The only exception was Wolfe Street, which dipped by 2 percentage points in math, though its reading performance remained steady.

Harold Henry. Director of Schools, provided a State of the Schools report, highlighting Pimlico Elementary/Middle’s ongoing charter renewal process and district-wide enrollment trends. Wolfe Street, Hampstead Hill, and Govans are all exceeding projected enrollment.

Summer 2025 Updates

The meeting included a recap of BCP summer professional development with 40 BCP teachers and leaders attending the NIFDI Conference in Eugene, Oregon, where BCP received the first-ever Silver Star Award for its effective use of Direct Instruction. Additional new-teacher training and facility upgrades across schools—including Pimlico’s new track and field slated to begin construction this fall—were also noted.
