Baltimore Curriculum Project (BCP) continued its 30th anniversary celebration with Volunteer Days of Service at Frederick Elementary School and Wolfe Street Academy.
Frederick Elementary Science Fair and STEM Night, Nov. 24, 2025
Students, families, and community partners came together for an evening filled with curiosity, creativity, and celebration. Across the building, seven students from Pre-K through 5th grade showcased their STEM projects for visitors. Each project reflected thoughtful experimentation and hard work.
Our young scientist impressed the volunteer judges with a wide range of topics. The 5th-grade project on the effects of sugar on plant growth earned first place, standing out for its clear data and scientific reasoning. In the lower grades, students explored everything from airplane design and flight to homemade lava lamps, showcasing creativity, inquiry, and problem-solving. The People’s Choice Award was given to a 1st-grade project titled What Makes Plants Grow? This crowd favorite included a hands-on demonstration and real-world connection. Fun fact: if you don’t have water, you can actually use soda for your plants.
The evening also featured engaging activities led by the Poly STEM Outreach Club, whose members partnered with us to provide interactive stations that kept students and families exploring science well beyond the presentations. With the support of dynamic volunteer judges and the dedication of the Frederick staff, the event ran seamlessly from start to finish. A warm community dinner capped off the Science Fair & STEM Night, bringing everyone together to celebrate student learning.
Wolfe Street Academy’s Adopt-a-Family Gift Collection, Dec. 6, 2025
Wolfe Street Academy was filled with holiday spirit on December 6 as volunteers gathered for the annual Baltimore Family Alliance’s Adopt-a-Family program. Each year, this citywide program brings together community members to support Baltimore families by providing clothing, toys, gift cards, and other thoughtful items that help make the season brighter.
Throughout the morning, volunteers sorted, labeled, and organized dozens of donated gifts in preparation for distribution. Their work ensured that Wolfe Street families would receive personalized packages tailored to each child’s wish list. On December 7, families of Wolfe Street students arrived at the school to pick up their gifts—many expressing gratitude for the support and relief this program brings during the holiday season.
Wolfe Street Academy and BCP have partnered with Baltimore Family Alliance for many years, strengthening a shared commitment to supporting local families beyond the classroom. Read more about the partnership.

We need volunteer judges for the National History Day at Hampstead Hill
January 16, 2026, 9:00 AM–12:00 PM, Hampstead Hill Academy (500 S. Linwood Ave.)
Support budding historians during National History Day! Students will present research projects on historical topics of their choice, and volunteers play a key role in making the event a success. Volunteers can serve as judges by asking students questions and reviewing their work, help with timekeeping and room support to keep presentations on schedule, assist with set-up and clean-up, or simply be there to cheer on students and celebrate their hard work.
