WOLFE STREET ACADEMY WEBSITE

Wolfe Street Academy became a BCP-operated charter school in August 2007. With approximately 130 students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through fifth grade, this East Baltimore school serves a vibrant, ever-changing community.

The General Wolfe neighborhood is home to a large Latino population from Mexico and Central America. For this reason, the school provides English as a Second Language education to nearly fifty percent of its students.

Extra-curricular Programs

  • The Arts - Wolfe Street Academy provides all students with art and vocal music several times each week. Yearly, art work from Wolfe Street Academy students is displayed at the Fells Point Corner Theater, one of our many supportive community partners.
  • After School Programs - When the school day ends at 2:40 PM each day, Kindergarten through fifth grade students are invited to attend our after school program until 5:45. Including a snack, homework assistance, academic extensions, field trips and enrichment clubs, the after school program provides a rich and safe environment for students after school.
  • Community School - Wolfe Street Academy recognizes the role that schools play in the larger urban community. Wolfe Street Academy is a community school. Programming is offered for all ages to families of students, as well as, other non-enrolled community members. These programs include language classes (Spanish and English) and parenting classes. The school also serves as a resource to assist parents in gaining access to family services that support stable families and successful students.
  • Kids Chess League - Wolfe Street Academy is a member of the Baltimore Kids Chess League. The Chess League provides support for the development of competitive chess teams at Baltimore City schools. The Wolfe Street Academy “Generals” have earned several trophies and much recognition in their first years of competition. Students, while having fun, are improving logic and reasoning skills through chess.
